About Us

Read Studio is a creativity-led architecture and design practice working between Sydney and Colombo.

We love design challenges: solving difficult sites, working with tight planning controls, and addressing complex briefs to come up with out-of-the-box, refreshingly unique and resourceful solutions, is something we take pride in.

Read Studio is led by Pulasthi Wijekoon and Ruwani Guruge.
After graduation, they established their early careers in renowned Colombo practices, moved to Sydney in 2008, where they spent 14 years working in leading architectural practices, before founding Read Studio in 2022.

Read Studio brings together a depth of experience and a long-held habit of creating, in a more formalized and considered setting.

We recognize the changing roles of architects and the evolving nature of building types in response to shifting social, environmental, and cultural contexts. Our work explores new spatial models, adaptive reuse, emerging construction methods and digital tools.

Pulasthi Wijekoon Founder / Director

Pulasthi brings over 20 years of architectural experience across Sydney and South Asia, with a strong track record in delivering projects from feasibility through to completion. Prior to cofounding Read Studio in 2022, he was Design & BIM Director at Design Group Five Colombo and worked in leading Sydney practices. Pulasthi has a keen eye for identifying opportunities and forging strong, lasting connections between key project players, ensuring strategic and meticulous planning, implementation, and delivery.
